Book 9
Fragments of Prayers #3
This is #3 of a series of three (so far) books which were a meditation on the Buddhist chant OM MANI PADME HUM (see http://www.tibet.com/Buddhism/om-mantra.html).
Again I started with a sheet of heavy-weight, white St Armand paper (http://www.st-armand.com/English/E01-welcome.php) and proceeded to write sixty different ways with gesso, sumi, walnut ink and white gouache.
Then I cut the sheet into sixty pieces. They are bound together in what Cherryl Moote calls a Photo Carousel in her book, Photo Op.
The pages of this book did not lie flat nicely like those in Fragments of Prayers #2 and I wanted them to look like a photo carousel so I had to make a round box for it. This exercise set my schedule back somewhat.
